Pieta

Mother
with
Sorrow’s patient eyes
watching death,
remembering life,
Shielding a body twisted
by the suffering of the world
now held silently...
While gentle hands speak
of alliances broken
and innocence lost for the final time...
Like the artist’s unseen hands that
transformed marble into flesh?
Man-created,
Man-destroyed...
grief crushed
Into framents of pain.
Light the candles slowly.
